This photo was taken on the dirt road that leads to Christ in the Desert Abbey. A Benedictine monastery located in Abiquiu, New Mexico. These monks are taking a leisurely walk together between prayer on a road that is often difficult to drive when it rains. They say that the road is a "faith journey" for those who drive it in the rainy season. And as the monks return to the monastery church, seen in the background, they most likely are speaking about the struggles in their own path as monastics. I visited this monastery in May of 2016 as a PhD student doing interviews with the monks about their land.
